The Galley Goes for Gold

A seafood restaurant in Exeter has won a gold award in the 2018/19 Taste of the West Hospitality Awards.

The Galley in Topsham, Devon, received the award following an unannounced review by Taste of the West judges.

Serving fish and seafood in historical Topsham, The Galley is a charming restaurant overlooking the River Exe estuary. The family-run team proudly serves the very best of Devon on a plate. Dishes are immaculately presented and adjustments are made daily depending on local produce and seasons.

The annual awards showcase exemplar food and drink producers and hospitality businesses in the west, who focus on serving local produce.

The award comes less than a year after The Galley recruited Jason Mead as their new Head Chef.

Jason says, “We are absolutely thrilled to win the highest award bestowed by Taste of the West. This reflects the whole team’s hard work in maintaining such a high standard of food and service at The Galley. We couldn’t be more proud and thank everyone who has supported us over the year.”

Taste of the West is the largest independent regional food group in the UK, established 28 years ago to promote and support fantastic local food and drink in the region. The annual awards scheme champions outstanding businesses, and ensures high standards are maintained.
